In 1983, Mark received his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from the University of Missouri. He additionally received his law degree from MU in 1986 and practiced law for several years before entering the financial services industry in 1992. Mark is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®), Certified Financial Planner® professional, and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

Mark serves as an Emeritus Member and past Chairperson of the Advisory Board of the Good Samaritan Communities of Olathe, which is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and, in addition, is a member and current Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Evergreen Living Innovations, a not-forprofit nursing center in Johnson County, Kansas. Mark and his wife, Mary, have handicapped siblings and, because of his experiences with those family members, he volunteers his time with the City of Olathe as Chairperson of the City’s Persons with Disabilities Advisory Board. For that service, Mark was awarded the first-ever Olathe Mayor’s Cathedral Builder Award in 2009 and was awarded a Buck O’Neil Legacy Seat by the Kansas City Royals in 2015 for excellence in community service. Additionally, he is an active member of the Olathe Noon Rotary Club.

Mark and Mary reside in Olathe, Kansas, and have two children, Ian and Quinn. They are members of Hope Lutheran Church in Shawnee, Kansas.
